Sudan ACD Update — Certificate of Origin Is Now a Required Document
The Sudan Customs Authority has added the Certificate of Origin to the list of mandatory documents for all ACD applications. All four documents must be submitted together.
There’s a documentation update for anyone applying for a Sudan Advanced Cargo Declaration (ACD) certificate.
The Sudan Customs Authority has issued a directive adding the Certificate of Origin to the mandatory document set for ACD applications. This means that the Certificate of Origin must now be submitted alongside the other standard ACD documents — it is no longer optional or supplementary.
Updated Document Requirements for Sudan ACD
The full document set now required for all ACD applications is:
- Draft Bill of Lading
- Commercial Invoice
- Freight Invoice
- Certificate of Origin (new addition)
All four documents must be submitted together. Incomplete applications — including those missing the Certificate of Origin — may cause delays in certificate processing.
When Does This Apply?
This requirement is effective immediately. If you have a Sudan shipment in progress or coming up, make sure your documentation checklist is updated to include the Certificate of Origin.
As a reminder, ACD certification will be compulsory for all Sudan-bound shipments from 1 January 2026. Shipments that don’t have a valid ACD number on the Bill of Lading from that date onwards will be at risk of clearance delays and penalties at Sudanese ports.
Why the Certificate of Origin?
Including the Certificate of Origin in the ACD process helps Sudanese customs verify the declared origin of goods, which is important for tariff classification and trade compliance. It also adds an extra layer of assurance that the declared cargo details are accurate and consistent across all accompanying documents.
